Café Mozaic Ashton-under-Lyne’s Café Mozaic, an inviting little restaurant in the town centre, close to The Arcades, provides a taste of the Middle East more easily and an awful lot less pricey than taking a caravan through the Sahara. Run by Moroccan born Abdelajalil, known locally as AJ, a veteran of several restaurants in the Manchester area, Café Mozaic combines deli and café to great effect, capturing the flavours of AJ’s home with the friendly welcome of the North of England. On entering Café Mozaic, you’ll first be struck by the deli counter with its colourful ingredients stowed under glass just crying to be nibbled on. Towards the rear of the room are a number of tables where daily specials, chalked on a large blackboard, can be enjoyed throughout the day. Passionate about the food of the Mediterranean region of Morocco and the Lebanon, AJ offers diners a glimpse in to his homeland with a concise menu of mezze dishes and filled wraps to eat in or to take away and enjoy at home or at your desk.
